Join David Hatcher Childress and Jennifer Bolm for a comprehensive trip through the mysterious cities of the South West. Day 1 - Sept 11 — Arrival at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. You will be picked up by our shuttle bus and taken to the Phoenix Sheraton. Phoenix is famous for UFO activity (the Phoenix Lights) and for the Superstition Mountains and the Lost Dutchman Mine. Special introductory dinner at the Sheraton. Overnight at the Phoenix Sheraton.

Day 2 - Sept 12 — Casa Grande. We depart Phoenix after breakfast and we drive south to Casa Grande. Here we visit the amazing Casa Grande astronomical observatory and other impressive buildings of the mysterious Hohokam culture that dominated southern Arizona with their multi-storied buildings and canals. We then drive north to the Sedona area. Overnight at the Iron Horse Inn and Spa, Old Town Cottonwood.

Day 3 - Sept 13
 — All day visit to Tuzigoot and Jerome. After breakfast we board our bus and go west to the mysterious ancient ruins of Tuzigoot and then to the mining town of Jerome which is one of the big tourist draws in the Sedona area. Overnight at the Iron Horse Inn and Spa, Old Town Cottonwood.

Day 4 - Sept 14
 — Visit Montezuma’s Castle and Sedona. After breakfast we board our bus and visit the cliff dwelling called Montezuma’s Castle. We then drive north to Sedona, Arizona. Here we see the magnificent red rocks and unusual rock formations. We will have lunch in Sedona and explore some of the vortexes. Overnight at the Los Abrigados Resort and Spa, Sedona.



Day 5 - Sept 15
 — Drive to Gallup, New Mexico After breakfast we drive through Flagstaff and Winslow (the site of the famous Eagles’ song) where we will stop at “the corner.” We also stop at the famous Meteor Crater where the movie STARMAN was filmed. We continue on through the Navajo Reservation to Gallup, New Mexico where we spend the night at the famous El Rancho Hotel where John Wayne and many other movies stars stayed.

Day 6 – Sept 16
 — Chaco Canyon All day visit to the impressive and mysterious ruins of Chaco Canyon. We hike some of the trails in the vast area and examine the largest ruins, the builders of which remain unknown. We then return to Gallup. Overnight at El Rancho Hotel.

Day 7 - Sept 17 — Canyon de Chelly We board our bus and continue north through the Navajo Nation to their administrative seat at Window Rock and then to Chinle and Canyon de Chelly. We see portions of Canyon de Chelly in the afternoon. Overnight at the Best Western Canyon de Chelly.

Day 8 - Sept 18 — Hopi Mesas. We depart Canyon de Chelly and head for the Hopi Mesas and the Little Colorado River. We continue on to the Navajo Reservation and to the trading post town of Cameron near the Little Colorado Gorge. Overnight at the Cameron Trading Post Motel, Cameron, Arizona.

Day 9 - Sept 19 — Mysterious Grand Canyon. Today depart in the minibus to explore the area of the Little Colorado River and the canyon that leads to the Hopi Salt Mine and to the secret Egyptian-Tibetan cavern with artifacts. Afterwards we drive south and visit the mysterious Anasazi ruins of Wupatki. We continue back to Flagstaff. Overnight at the Drury Inn & Suites, Flagstaff.

Day 10 - Sept 20
 — Final day in Sedona Area. This is our final day to explore and shop in the Sedona area. We take our mini bus to Camp Verde and then we will take you to downtown Sedona for shopping. Special afternoon party and dinner at the Camp Verde World Explorers Club. Overnight at the Cliff Castle Hotel and Casino.

Day 11 - Sept 21
 — Fly Home. In the morning we board our mini-bus and drive to the Phoenix Airport to connect with our flights home. The tour ends!
